Still having problems with '82 Evinrude

Followed all JB's suggestions in troubleshooting section. Engine/Flywheel spin strong, just won't start. I cleaned carburator, replaced plugs and coils. Getting a white spark with the plugs disconnected and sitting on the engine block. Anything else I should be checking?

Check the compression, and check the spark without the plugs. There are instructions on how to do both in the FAQ section.<br /><br />Also, check fuel delivery to the carburetor. Does the bulb pump up and get hard?

Bulb gets hard. When I took the carb off, I pumped gas through the line and it's getting into the carb.

Are the plugs wet after trying to start?

Stop replacing stuff that doesn't need replacing, Vindog. Find out what DOES need replacing, if anything.<br /><br />You did the troubleshooting from the FAQ? <br /><br />1. What happened when you squirted fuel into the carb(s), then tried to start?<br /><br />2. which of the dozen plus '82 Evinrudes do you have?

I just replaced basic stuff that needed replacing, like the plugs. The engine sat for probably 2 years. It was my brother-in-laws who let it sit in his garage. <br /><br />Nothing happened when I squirted gas into the carb. Same thing, engine just cranks. Plugs are dry. What next?<br /><br />Thanks

Oh yea. It's a 1982, Evinrude, 35 hp with electric start. Model number E35ECND.

Sounds like it is time to clean/rebuild the carb. Probably have varnish/gum in the jets. Jobs not hard but you want to get a good manual and follow it.

Thanks. I'm waiting for the carb kit and I have the seloc marine manuel.
