Oh yeah, and when I run it it starts to get hot in not to long, so It seems like the problem or plug is before the water reaches the block

thanks

Air is compressable and not very dense. Water is not compressable and is fairly dense. I would use your garden hose connected to the telltale to try to dislodge a clog with the lower unit off. Put a clean garbage pail underneath and see what comes out when you try this. Also, you can hook your garden hose to the water tube in the mid section to mimic the pump and see if water makes it's way out of the telltale without reassembling the lower everytime to test. One more thing, if your motor is a "x" or "z" (25" or 30" leg), make sure you have the pump extension and the cup seal installed and seated.
Good luck

did you replce the driveshaft/ wtarepump key properly when you took the waterpump off?

a few more things you can try here:
1. take off the tell tale and place the water hose/garden hose over this tell tale hose, and with motor off, turn on the water hose/ garden hose. you SHOULD be able to see the water come out of the water intakes on the side of the lower unit. this will back flush the motor all the way through to the intake screens. you may or may not need to remove the t-stats to try this. try it both ways and see what happens

2. with lower unit removed, you should be able to place the garden hose over the water pickup tube and clamp in place with a large hose clamp. the water pickup tube is usually sticking down from the powerhead and is easily seen once the lower unit is removed. turn on the water at the garden hose, first with the motor off and then again with the motor on. you should see it coming out oif the tell tale, even with motor off. once again, try with t-stats both in and out.

3. take out the t-stats and leave the t-stat covers off and unbolted and try running the motor that way and see if any water comes gushing out of there.

i have a 1991 looper v6 225 and i have gone through almost all of this same zhit as you are going through now.

if all else fails, remove the cylinder heads and inspect the water passages in there yourself. the heads are easily removed with a 7/16" wrench and about 10 minutes of your time.

and if you already dont have one, GET A MANUAL!

mike

peace

Re: Running motor on muffs procedure, whats wrong?

Thanks for the help everyon, I got it pumping water. It turns out the key was missing from the h20 pump, maybe fell out in shipping? Maybe just fell out? It pushed its way under the metal plate that the h20 pump sits on and bent it slightly down keeping it from seeling. After installing a new plate the motor started pumping water. Now I have a slight Tstat prob but it should be easy to fix.

thanks
