78 erude 140, controls and steering

looking for another motor.does anyone know up till what year my present shift,throttle,steering cables will work? thanks,dave

After 95' you'll have to get an adapter wire harness for the engine. But from 95'back, should be plug n' play.

Thanks OBJ. dave ps; anyone know what year loopers were introduced. I have a crossflow now and thing I would like to try a looper.they sound like more bang for the buck.

V4's and V8's started in 85. V6's started in 86. Your harness will fit back to 73. Anything with the red cannon plug.

If youre looking in the 150 range, look at the 60* looper motors. Light and very quick revving. Actually a 60* V4 will be night and day difference to your cf. Youll think its a V6.

I,d love to find a 60* v4 115-140,but $ and time don,t give me much choice.I,m going to look at a 1988 v6 150 tomorrow.(I gotta look. Thanks dave and it 25"vs 20" but I have a jack plate. Choices are slim dave
