Ok, Any help would be much appreciated. I am a new user to this site and to boats in general. My 1992 Evinrude 90hp v4 is not starting. It is cranking but not starting. I replaced the plugs as they looked bad, but still no improvement. It doesn't seem to be getting fuel. I don't know enough about the engine as i am awaiting the manual to arrive next week, but wanted to possibly run her for the first time this weekend. Could it be the fuel filter??? Where is the fuel filter?? I know i know, i am an idiot, but like i said boat engines and me are foreign to each other. Any help or suggestions would be MUCH appreciated.

Thanks,
Brent

Re: Not starting

After you crank then engine pull the plugs and see if they are wet. If they aren't I would check my fuel system. If they are wet then pull the plug wires one at a time with insulated pliers or a friend that you don't need anymore and check for spark. Should jump about 7/16 to 1/2 inch and be bright blue. If it is yellow or off white I would suspect a coil/powerpack. If you have a weak spark on one side try swapping the coil/powerpack and see if the problem follows. I'm like you and do not have a manual for your engine so I am just guessing that you have coils/powerpack. This should give you a place to start.

Re: Not starting

Thanks Fireman. I am going to go to my local library and see if i can find the manual there in the meantime. I will have my neighbor "help" as he could use a good shock. Your plan sounds like a logical one and a good place to start.

Thanks again!
