Hi<br />Something really curious happened and I cant figure it out. Was out today with the kids and after about an half of running the engine really smoothed out, not the usually clackity clack and rough running. The engine started purring like a kitten and for the first time I could plane my my 12' aluminum boat. Imagine my surprise after having this thing for a while when she had all kinds of power. So after cruisng for another hour or so we stopped and I started back up and the engine went to the old way of running. I have changed plugs points and condensors recently and set timing with timing light. Changed thermostat and lubbed her up and changed lower unit oil. I havent done a carb rebuild yet but a I was running some seafoam in it today. Is this a dirty carb and needs a rebuild. She also idles real rough all the time and I figured this is how she is suppose to run. I bought it used and never knew otherwise till today how nice and powerful; she could be. I want the power I had today with her. Sorry bout the long post but I'm puzzled. :(

Sounds like a fuel problem, such as a dirty carb. Those are smooth running engines, there should be no roughness at all.
