erratic tach 110 omc

I have this tach that works sometimes and cuts out, i have checked the battery and have over 13 volts, the volt meter on the dash reads over 12 volts, the battery is charging and is a " good battery, it is 3yrs old but still starts the motor, could this be a bad ground somewhere, i have cleaned and checked all connections, i dod not know bad tach, the tach came with boat it is a tempo brand, as are all the other gages are tempo too, the motor is rebulit 3 yrs ago with a new voltage regulator in it, 1986 110 evinrude and it runs very good, anybody know what is up with this! thanks for any replys

check with your local dealer and see if he has a loaner tach to check yours with

sometimes it helps if you place a 1/2 watt, 2k ohm resistor between the ground and + terminals of the tach

why would the tech all of a sudden start acting up? is it safe to use it till i can get another one, like i said the battery seems to be charging checked it with a volt meter, thanks again for replys!

Hook a volt meter to the Tach leads. That would be the gray lead, and black ground. The meter should show 9 + volts, and hold steady.
