I have solved the problem with the motor not running smooth. It was indead the carbs.
Now that I have got it running...how many revs should the motor run at when it idles. my rev counter is showing 1500 rpm. Is this normal or should it run slower. Could anybody also tell me where i can find the electronic temp meter on the motor seeing that my temp gage is not giving me a reading.

Is that 1500 rpm on the muffs in the driveway or in the water?
Dhadley quote.."If the carbs are clean and the motor is otherwise healthy, 1000 in neutral, in the water is almost too much. Neutral is usually around 900 or so. Look for 650-750 in gear, in the water. With a healthy V4 cf 550 is not out of the question."

Hope that helps

Dave

Re: johnson 90hp v4

now you should perform a link and synq.
get a manuel for the right procedures.
1100 in nutral idling In the water
750 in forward gear in water
about 1500 on muffs in driveway.
how do the cylinderheads feel after a warmup??
you should be able to hold your fingers on them for 3 seconds
if it feels like you can hold your hand on it forever than your tstats are stuck open and the moter will always idle rough.
that could be a reason why they might have adjusted the idle stop screw.

good luck
reeldutch
