Welcome to the iboats. Why are you trying to start it with the choke open? Pull the carb and clean it, it may be running lean and they don't like to start cold on a lean running carb, even with the choke closed.

well, it showed little signs of starting when i try starting with the choke in, i have had da carbs off, and they're all clean and good, is it a good idea to use the throttle when starting?

Does your single lever control have a warm up lever on it. Mine did. Push it up a little and see if it helps. If that doesn't, it might be time to put in a carb kit. Not that hard or expensive but you will want a manual.
