Is there any rcommendations as far as service manuals go? I know the general consensus is probably theres nothing like the OEM manual but if you had to use an aftermarket manual which one would it be? The Clymer Manuals assume too much information is already known so they skip steps and lack specific illustrations. I haven't used any of the SeLoc Manuals. Any feedback would be appreciated.

I would order the OEM. The cost is around the same & much better info. I wouldn't use anything else. You can also get the parts manual for another $20.

The OEM makes the job MUCH easier.Everything is set out so much clearer. The photo's show your motor exactly as is.
It's like they are written by the same company that actually manufactured your outboard !

Get it ???

 I just ordered the Seloc manual for my ol' johnny:'( Guess I should have asked first. Come to think about it, I never even thought about an OEM manual. I grew up on after market manuals for any repairs, so thats what I always reach for.

The Seloc text and pics confused me more than I was to begin with. Order OEM. The other manual made a great $30.00 fire starter.

Another vote for OMC. I just sent my Clymer back and ordered an OMC.
It took about 10 days to reach me up here in Alberta. Cost was about $20 more.

I just dismantled my lower gearcase (except oil pump)from my 1971 Evinrude, 60HP, Selectric Control and found the Seloc manual more helpful than the OEM. Is there another OEM manual out there I don't know of????

If you are only buying one manual, get the OEM! If you can, get several, and use the one that is most clear for you. But the best overall is definately the OEM!
