I have a 1999 Johnson 35HP with low hours. It will run fine for 20 minutes at full throttle and then it dies. If i am at idle after running in for 20 mins to 30 min, then it starts to spudder and surge and then dies. After waiting a few secs. it will start right up on first pull and run for 10-15 secs and then die. and it will keep doing this. The only way for me to get back the other day was take on the thermostat and the engine did not stall, but still not not sound right.
I have replaced the thermostat with no luck. I have also replaced the fuel tank and fuel lines with no luck. And cleaned the carbs. It seems to be some time of heat problem? maybe power pack? I have brought it to a few people and no can figure out what is wrong with it because it runs fine on the hose. Please HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You've probably figured this out, but running on a hose cannot simulate running on a boat.

Pumping water?

When it stalls, can you lay your fingers on the head for a few seconds w/o burning?

How long since last water pump rebuild?

it seems to be pumping water like a champ. When it does stall out after the half hour or so i have put my hand under pee hole and the water is rather warm. The heads to seem to get pretty hot to the touch but does not seem burning
