1989 15hp evinrude: when the fuel line primer bulb is squeezed, does this send fuel into the fuel pump only or also through it into the carburetor reservoir bowl? cold engine won't start unless fuel is squirted into air intake. when hot, all is ok. thanks

To the float bowlin the carb. You are probably due for a carb overhaul.

Re: fuel primer bulb

If you have the carb idle screw screwed in too far or if you use it for trolling & have it set slow, try to twist it as far as it will go to the right, (richen) when starting. Anotyher thing it could be is that the crankshaft seals could be leaking & not allowing enough vacuum to pull the fuel into the carb on the suction stroke.

Look at this article that I wrote, may help http://www.wisnersinc.com/Fishing Info/Johnson_9.9_troubleshooting.htm
