Motor is on a 1990 Sea Nymph. Ignition switch is in the dash. All was going well today then went to start and got nothing. None of the gauges work when key is turned on (battery is fine, tried another battery, checked connections etc). Motor doesn't turn over and the power tilt is dead (using both the switch on the throttle lever and the switch on the motor itself).

I checked fuses in dash and all look well. Couldn't see any inline fuses. I was thinking it might be a bad ignition switch?? But the tilt used to work regardless of if the ignition was turned on or not...it even worked w/out the key in.

Any ideas? Thanks!

JW

There should be an inline fuse near the starter solenoid. It is usually in a red water tight connector.

OK, thanks! Any idea what Amp fuse I'll need to replace that? Is there anything else this could be besides the fuse?

This boat is up in the boondocks, I'm going to have to drive up there armed with as many possible fixes as I can.

If I can't fix this up there I'm going to have to manually tilt the motor. I wasn't able to do this before. Is there a release valve on the power trim I can turn so I can lift the motor if I have to?

Thanks,
JW

yes you can tilt manually. Standing behind the engine, look on the left side where the engine attaches to the boat. Coming from the side, you will see a hole (might even have writing on it).
Inside you will see a flat screwdriver operated relief valve. Just open it and lift the engine.
Just remember to close it when you're done.
