I am about to take on a link and synch procedure on my 92 model 60hp Evinrude. My OMC service manual calls for an OMC piston stop (OMC P/N 384887) and a throttle shaft amplifier to be used. I"ve checked the boat dealers and parts stores in this area and none of them carry either one of them. Anyone have any Ideas on where I might find them? TIA

Got a tap and die set? If so, you can make the piston stop tool out of an old spark plug.

The most difficult part was knocking the innards out of the plug. Once that was done, it was a simple matter to tap it out and clean it very very well.

An even simpler solution might be a metric M14 x 1.5 bolt.

Thanks, Paul. Any ideas on a throttle shaft amplifier?

A small wire alligator type clip from radio shack and WD40 straw crimped in it will do the same thing as a throttle shaft amplifier. good luck

Re: Trying to find tools

These are some home made tools I built for checking for ignition spark and a piston stop tool which is similiar to the one Paul Moir made.

I used some old spark plugs and lacing wire.
The wires are pre-cut about a 7/16 from the ground in the middle and hooked to each spark plug.

The other side with the plugs. I used six even though my engine is just a V-4.

Hooked up to the engine for testing. Notice the ground wire on top with an alligator clip.
