Hello I have a Evinrude 85 hp 1975 and would like to know a good plug to use and the gap. I currently have autolite 2634 in there with a gap of .040+.

I am wondering if the larger gap would contribute to a issue where the power would increase, as if a cylinder kicked in, at about 20mph or so.

Thanks
Rich

First off get those trot line weights out of your engine. Champion should be used, I think the correct plug is QL77JC4 if a resistor is wanted or drop the Q for a standard plug. Gap should be 0.30 in.

Good Luck,

Bayou Thunder

Ql77jc4 is a inductor type suppressor not a resistor. They are the best plugs for your motor. Gap at .030 or .040 if you troll alot. I have them in my 150 83 v6 and have about 75hrs on them this year about 60 hours trolling and they will not foul. Provided the motor is in a good state of tune.
