Hello I got a quick question about my tilt and trim unit on my motor? I went to Wal Mart last weekend in fact two different Walmarts to buy Power Tilt and Trim fluid so I can service the tilt system The reason why I want to service it Is it is not holding fully up and after a while it drops down to the floor I have never serviced the trim motor and have had the boat for over a year. Another question is it good to use GM Dextron Automatic transmission fluid in it? The reason I ask is my Seloc manual says it can be used. I just want to make sure from the experts here on the forum that they have used transmission fluid.

You may have some air in the system or an internal leak. Check the manual for bleeding procedure.

Dextron is okay. Both OMC (BRP) and Mercruiser have power trim and steering fluid ,also. The advantage is they come in smaller 'tubes'.These can be used to add fluid without having to put the ATF in an oilcan first.

DHP
