25 hp idle miss&WOT

Just started as a newbie to the forum, i own a 1985 25hp johnson longshaft and at an idle or WOT it drops a cylinder,I've checked the wiring to the kill switch the sensor and the charge coil all is ok. This just started, i've also swapped coils and plugs, my best guess right now would be the power pack(CDI) any ideas???

Hi Paul! and welcome to the forum.<br /><br />I would do a spark test before buying new parts. Should jump 7/16 gap. You can get one at local auto parts place ten bucks or so.<br /><br />Or you can make one, real simple to do. Just run a search on this forum for spark tester.<br /><br />If spark test good on both cyls. then spray premix into carb throat,s and see if miss goes away. <br /><br />If it does, Then I would do a carb cleaning job oner.<br /><br />Good luck!

thanks, spark seems too be nice and FAT when it want's to be, i negelected to tell you this condtion is also intermittent, so most of the time spark is good, and yes i added fuel subsitute to the carb, and that did't change, that's why i'm chasing the spark!!
