i have a 1972 50 hp evinrude model# 50273c. We have a manual but its not much help. We have replaced the Stator and the power pack. and still No spark. weve checked wires connections everything, we think and we can't find a thing. im not sure if this is normal or not but on our power pack there is power on the right side, but on the left side there is power from stator to power pack, the 2 orange wires that run from power pack to spark plugs have no power. Even when cranking, is that good or bad

If there is a black/yellow wire to the power pack remove it and try again. This wire is grounded by the ignition switch to stop spark from the power pack. If this works then there is either a problem in your wiring to the ignition switch or the ignition switch is bad itself.

no it didn't work. still no spark. some one said it might be the coils that go to the spark plugs but other people said that both will not go out at same time. So im totaly lost. anyidea where i could get a wiring diagram for this motor?

If you don't have a service manual and intend to work on the motor yourself you need to get one. The schematics and test procedures are in there. Otherwise your just shooting blanks in the dark. I have 3 different ones for my motor.

there is a inline fuse just above the powerpack . i think your motor is a 73 but it would be the same . i have a shop manul and will study it and see if i can see something that will be of help . have misplaced my wiring diagram . i have a copy on my office computer but it wnet out and is in the shop . i will git back to you on it .
i cant copy it to send for the copy rights laws
i have had several of those motors and have one now . it runns great http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v705/papasage/boatmotors001.jpg

the 72 is 50ESL72 or 50ES72 . the # should be on the transom bracket on the side .
i checked the # on my 73 and it is 50173s. the # changed on the 73 i guess . the motor is the same. in 74 the stering cable went through the pivit tube but the motor was the same except the foot was standard shift
