Hmm...I wish I had a boat that was worth cleaning after a day on the water. :D

I probably boat in some of the same hard water lakes as WSUNDERMAN. The diluted vinegar seems to work well and is cheap. I have a metal flake gel coat that always needs a lot of attention, but a few minutes before leaving the lake makes a big difference.

We always use a chamois immediately after pulling the boat out of the water. One of us pulls the plug and puts on the safety straps while the other starts wiping donw the boat. The whole process takes about 10 minutes. There have been a very few times that we missed doing this and we could surely tell it the next time out....much harder to clean.

We boat in fresh water lakes only.

Well, if ya only have the boat in the water for a day, and its fresh water, and ya put it back on the trailer, and hosed it off with fresh water, ...seems like a chicken and egg thing:D

Special cleaning stuff? Wiping it off right after pulling it out? None of that ever worked for me. I just use regular old soap and water and basically treat it like a car. Boat looks great after. All fresh water of course.

I wipe mine down with cleaner wax after every outing and also clean and put vinyl protectant on the seats then cover it . It only is in fresh water but it always has a brown mark on the water line and im afraid if I dont clean it off it will be really hard to get off after a few times ..
