My 1985 90hp Evinrude has a very new VRO pump but the VRO system was bypassed by the previous owner. I'm thinking of reconnecting the VRO and I've read all of the FAQs but still have questions.

First, does the oil tank contain an electric pump or is it like the fuel system where there's simply a primer in the supply hose and the pump sucks?? My Clymer manual makes it sound like there's an electric pump but I can't figure out why there would be a primer bulb and an electric pump.

Second, there is a 4-pole connector coming from the VRO pump. Is this simply for the alarms or is there something else involved?? I don't have any matching 4-pole connector anywhere in my engine which is why I am asking.

TBar,

1. There is no electric pump. It works similar to a fuel system.

2. The wires are for alarms. The four wire is a the latest design.

Okay, so I have an old engine with the original VRO design and a new version pump which explains why I don't have the connector for the alarms. I'll consult Clymer to see if I can find a way to wire up the alarms.

Thank you.
