Will a 20" 1974 50 HP Evinrude gearcase work on a 20" 1974 70 HP Evinrude <br /><br />Will a Johnson gearcase of same year, length, and 70 HP buckle up and work on the same year, size, and 70 HP Evinrude?<br /><br />Have lead on both that are apparently in very good condition but time is running out.

The Johnson gearcase will work on the Evinrude. Thats the two 70 horse models.<br /><br />Iam not sure about the 50 horse workin on the 70 horse. My thinking is, that it wont.<br /><br />Good luck!

the 50 and 70 have different drive splines. the ,if the suffix on the model number is the same, should work.
