Dies at low rpm

I was wondering if anyone else is having this same problem. My 74 50hp Johnson motor starts and runs great, but once i drop the idle lever to attempt to put it in gear it stalls out, could anyone give me some advice on what to do?

Glastron....did ya' replace the missing low speed needle?

No i havent replaced it yet.....its on order though.....Would that be the reason why its not running properly? It starts and runs fine, though it dies when its put under a load.
