Have a leak on the middle carb port side. Have already marineteked the bb's on all bowls, the bowls on all carbs are slightly warped, but not leaking. Motor runs smooth at all speeds.

Gas is puddling in the cavity made by the ribs on the throttle plate assmbly on top of the middle carb plateau, and is weeping out the upper hole in the bottom carb flange (on the left side, looking at the motor from the front).

There were numerous scratches in the throttle plate assmbly where the carb face seals seat - I lapped all three carb mounts, no more scratches and replaced the seals. Replaced the manifold seal when I reinstalled the works.

I've tried all three port carbs, and one of the starboard carbs in that spot - the leak doesn't move.

Appears to only leak at idle, at mid to high speed it appears to stop.

At wits end on this one - beginning to think I might have a crack in the throttle plate assembly - any ideas ?

Steve T

Re: Leaking Carb - 175 Ocean Pro

What year and model number on the motor?

In the carb kits for that motor, there are 3 different "o-rings" that seal the throttle body, fuel inlet, and carb body.

Early motors use one style and later ones use either the black or brown ones. The brown "o-rings" are fatter and seal imperfections better. Instructions are included in the kit for identifying and using the correct "seals".

Thanx Seahorse

1995, 175EXE0M

I'm 2x sure the carb face seal isn't leaking - I've tried a brown from a rebuild kit, and just replaced all six with new seals. Have also tried several of the other carbs in the same spot - they don't leak.

Waiting on a manual - is it possible it could be leaking from a seal on the butterfly shaft ?
