Embarrassing problem

I have a 2003 25hp Johnson. With the throttle wide open the boat only idles. Every few seconds the boat will jump from idle to full throttle and then die again. I drive around the lake with the engine jumping from full blast to idle intermitted. People are laughing at me like I am driving some kind of clown boat. You should see it; its kind of funny Help is greatly appreciated.

Get you some oversized shoes and a big red nose and you are in business.<br /><br />Sorry can't really help you.

Check for water in your fuel or restricted fuel flow, SC. Do not take the engine out until you have resolved the problem.<br /><br />Good luck.

Check your fuel line for possible air leaks, especially at the fuel connection. This same thing happened to me.<br /><br />Pods

Check your spark and your power pack. I had a similar thing happen on thursday although it wasn't as constant as yours. I got home to find out I had no spark on my bottom cylinder. After testing the coils and confirming they were still good I determined my power pack was bad. Had to order another.
