hello <br />is there a trick to holding flywheel (1970 60 horse johnson) inorder to loosen nut. <br />thank you

Use an impact wrench to loosen. Do not use to tighten.<br /><br />Or, you can buy the special tool from bombardier.<br /><br />Or, you can use a large strap wrench.<br /><br />Or, you can make your own flywheel holder.<br /><br />Do a search on the subject and find many more "or's"

I use a socket and strike the handle sharply with a hammer. It usually breaks loose on the first hit.

My motor has the hoisting bracket close to the flywheel... I take a nylon ratchet strap and rap it around the bracket and the flywheel. Tighten her down tight enough and she won't budge.
