That's how its supposed to work. You should have a lanyard with a clip on the end that attaches to the kill switch and holds it in.

Jamie, you double posted this, you should edit one of them so there is no info, otherwise it will cause confusion ;)

What other kill switch??
Purple wire is for the choke not the kill switch. I don't know what switch we're talking about really.
If the motor will not run unless the choke button is pushed then rep[lacing or jumping the switch won't help anything. You have carb/fuel problems.

Sorry for the double post . I have no idea how to delete one .

ANy how , the switch I am talkin gof is on the side of the control box , small black button the center pushes in , I see the lanyard its seems intack , the kill switch is the switch I was looking at , but once I opened and had a second look I located the back of the small side switch cut the wires and now it runs , it runs poorly but I think the older gas and gummed up carbs may be the fault now >>>

any ideas what this small switch was
????

JAmie

That's the safety kill switch. You are supposed to attach the lanyard to yourself and if you fall or get thrown out of the boat the lanyard pulls the clip off the switch and the engine dies.
