twin Johnson 200

I just got an older 31 ft center cosole with twin Johnson 200's that are carburated. I have the toughest time starting them without fludding them. Should I hold the choke in the whole time while trying to start them? Should I pump the throttle while trying to start them? What is the correct process for these engines assuming they are in perfect running condition. This is my first boat that is not fuel injected and I am stuck with these until I can afford new engines. They are reliable once started but questionable if they sit more than a couple of days.

What year are the motors? If theyre relative newer with the primer system its very hard to flood them if the system is correct.<br /><br />The model number will tell us what we have here.

Does it run fine after you get them started or does it want to die at first or first couple of times? If they do push in the choke every time it wants to die when it starts to cut out. Then when it stops spuddering stop choking it each time. Also try pumping up the bulb before you strat them if you do not already. My 150 Evinrude is carbs. and I have to do this.

We need to know what motors he has. We dont know for sure if he has a choke or a primer system.
