Re: wiring 1960 evinrude

I've ordered a brand new starter , $133, from Sea Way in Seattle Washington.
The share a project is close to my motor but my vacum is on the port side of my motor.I'm trying to get a good picture of the unidentified wiring in the first picture I sent you. Since my vacum is in a different place maybe the safety sw. is too. It has to be because it has a wire to the vacum and a ground mounted to the motor and a white wire with a knife disconnect attached to nothing. When I disconnected it from the vacum and tried to start it, there was nothing, not even a click. so its got to be important

the ground that is going to the vacuum, should go through the safety switch.

From the photos You have provided, I can't see anything that even remotly resembles the safety switch.

If you advance the throttle all the way, can you make the starter solenoid click?

good to hear.

I would still like to find out if you have or don't have a working safety switch. That bit still has me worried.... just a little.
