Can anyone tell me what type of torque socket I need to buy in order to remove the connecting rod from the crankshaft. My engine is Evinrude 115hp (1978). '

Thanks....
For the V-4s it needs to be a very good quality one. Even pretty good ones snap when torquing them so much. Up here we could get that from Snap-On tools or Mac tools. If translation is needed, 12pt 5/16 is a 12 point, 5/16 inch socket.
Thanks! I did get a good one at Home Depot, worked like a charm,
HUSKY
3/8 In. Drive 12pt 5/16 In. Socket
Model 23010

where can I now buy 4 good culinders, bearings, kit etc for it???

Thanks...
You might get some more input if you told us a bit about what you are trying to do and the condition of what you have got. Most rebuilds do not call for new cylinders or bearings.
Sorry, solittle..

My evinrude 115hp (1978) damaged one of the Connecting rods ; which caused a breakage in the engine block cover(next to the starter). The cover was replaced , but when we opened the engne block, one of the connecting rod had broken the connecting rod cap and bearing. the pieces of bearing caused damageto another rod. It basically scratched it and dent it all up, I think it would be best to replace it. A second cylinder is all rusted up and the connecting rod doesn't even move. It appears that some how the engine block had some type of water filteration that caused the corrosion build up. The other two cylinders look fairly good and can be used . What do you recommend? Can the other two cylinders be repairable or would it be best to replace them/ Thanks
you cannot reliably replace the crnkcase cover. the block and cover were assembled then machined as a unit for the bearing bores and seal rings. its not advisable to mix and match them. I have had a few covers welded back up though.
carefully inspect the rod journal surface on the crank, pits, dents and rust will scrap it.
the cylinders can be bored and fitted with oversize pistons or resleeved as nessasary. but with a mix and match cover I dont think I would go to that expense.
sometimes its just better to find a decent block, crank and rods and go from there.
true, it's not to wise t mix and match. I think I will go ahead and try to find a decent block, crank and rods. I've only spent $49.24 so far, I rather stop there and get another block...

Well, thanks to all , I'll take the good advice...

Thanks.....
