Re: 1964 Johnson vxl-10s 60hp wont start
Hi Jimi. I'm not a big fan of starting fluid. A substitute is pre-mix in a spray bottle, but you have done a good job of indicating you have ignition, but no fuel. There are any number of starting points from how old the fuel in the tank is, to a good fuel hose connection at the tank and the engine, the bulb, the hose itself, the carb, etc. If your motor hasn't run in awhile, or if fuel has sat in the carbs for a long time, you might consider a carb re-build. Not too hard to do, doesn't take too long, and is cheap. That would eliminate carburation from the variables, and is a good bet as to the problem. If, however, your fuel is old, or you think you may have a rusty tank or bad fuel line, you might take a look at those items. Does it run OK after starting?
