1996 200johnson piston problem

was told had blown upper piston symtoms loss of power 1000rpms then came back for awhile 4500rpms then dyed out again changed plugs restarted sounded better not the norm so changed out fuel filter couldn"get started had someone look at it was told blown upper piston no compression need to know if this sounds like this is the problem ran great all summer can it be rebuilt or do i need a rebuilt or new engine need advice i appreciate it thanks PS rebuilt as oppose to new money wise in a jam

benthooks,<br /><br />We need to know what was actually done by the someone who looked at this.Was a compression test done ? If zero in the top cylinder,was the cylinder head pulled for inspection ?<br /><br />DHP

dhp marine compression test was performed ps it was done at my slip is this possible

A compression test can be performed at your slip. Ask the guy who did it for the readings or do it yourself and come back here with the results.
