110 HP Evinrude Power Pack CD4?

Hope all had a great Thanksgiving. Afew days off to work on my outboard. Evinrude Mod# E110 TLCCA, 1988.Have found my Seloc manual and this forum invaluable to my amatuer outboard abilities. My 110 powerpack is not in my manual. I have tried to match the diagrams to no avail. I checked my power pack(there is only one, the manual claims this engine to have a CD2 type ignition system with a power pack for each bank of cylinders), the power pack on my engine has CD4 58336 10L M OA on it.<br /><br /><br /><br /><br />My question is has this engine been modified ? <br /><br /><br /><br /><br />If so what year is this ignition system from.<br /><br /><br /><br /><br /> The motor runs(when jumped at the solenoid with the big red harness plug unplugged), but I have no power coming to the big red harness plug.<br /><br /><br /><br /><br /> Is a CD4 power pack standard for this engine?<br /><br /><br /><br /><br />Also does any person know of a good website with evinrude engine diagrams? The Bombardier engine diagram site does not seem to be up and running at this time.<br /><br /><br /><br /><br /> Hope you can help.<br /><br /><br /><br /><br />Thanks

MCM, Thank You. You have in the past answered and helped me . <br /><br /><br /><br /><br />Parts list looks more like what I have than the Seloc Manual.<br /><br /><br /><br /><br />Any suggestions on that Harness plug with no power to any point?

Yea the Seloc leaves a bit to be desired, no power in the harness could be a failed ign. switch, neutral start switch, etc.

MCM, The harness is disconnected now. I am in the engine itself at the disconnected red harness plug. This eliminates the ignition swith in the control box as well as the neutral start switch. Correct? Any other suggestions? Thanks.

Yes, if your trying to start the motor you should be able to jump it at the starter solenoid, I'm not sure exactly what it is your trying to do or troubleshoot at the moment. Is the motor not starting? no spark etc.

Hi MCM, I am trying to troubleshoot a control box so that I no longer have to jump my engine at the solonoid. If jumped at the solonoid engine cranks and then we have spark. In hooking up the control box I have found that my red plug harness (engine end)is missing one of its a male end/contacts on it.I shall resume tommorrow after my battery recharges. Also I have taken your suggestion that the neutral start switch may be at fault and temporarily undid the wires to the neutral start switch.I am really not trying to start the engine at this point only hook up a control box/ignition switch and see that it functions for when I am ready to run her again. Thank you for your replies.

Well I won't have access to any of my manuals or wiring diagrams for a couple of days, so I may not be able to be of much help, since you're missing a connection on your harness you might want to start looking for a replacement. Which prong is missing one of the large ones or the smaller ones?

It is a larger one.Power(red/purple stripe)if I am not mistaken. I get no power at from any prong. I grounded the test light to the outboard and stuck the needle end into the missing prong hole and it lit up. Is there only power to one prong? I think there should be power to at least one more, not sure which at the moment. I think if you replace the harness with the broken prong you'll have better luck troubleshooting. Without power from that purple/red wire the motor isn't going to start.

I have jury rigged a temporary prong . I now have power and the engine cranks. If you find that there should be power to another prong please let me know I am going to tackle this project again tomorrow.Thanks again.
