Well, I fixed my rpm problem on my 83 crossflow 150 by replacing it with a 91 120 looper. :D

What rpm should I shoot for with this engine?

What kind of performance should I look for on a 1973 aquasport 19-6?

Any problems that should be checked before taking it out?

It now has a new rectifer and water pump

How is the economy with the big bore looper?

I'd try for 5800-6000 rpm.
If you had that 150 on the same boat I think you'll be darn close to the same performance with the 120 and not great fuel economy, but better than the 6 cylinder. I've been running one for 11 years and I wouldn't trade it for any motor. Love those cubic inches.

I have the exact same boat, same year, with a '76 115 cross flow on it. Boat jumps onto plane right away hits about 30 or so at WOT, have to re-check again with the GPS next season. You'll probably get better performance with the looper.

Re: 91 looper 120

My '86 140 looper has a limiter on the powerpack that keeps RPM from going over 6100. By myself I can just hit 6,100....with a few people on board I'm usually at about 5,800-5,900 at WOT.

Fuel economy stinks....but what the heck, I didn't buy it to conserve on fuel!!
