What type of spark plugs are best for this engine. (Model #1001930)
Also, do I need to pull the flywheel to change the plug wires?
Thanks,
Jeff

Champion QL77JC4 gapped at .030 or Champion L76V surface gap.

L77jc4, you don't need a Q plug on that engine.

Thanks. does the flywheel have to come off to change the plug wires?

They screw in. Just detach the wires from the plug and retainers and unscrew them. It helps to pull the boots on the cap back first, but be careful. The caps damage easily and they're quite expesive (if they're even available anymore). It shouldn't be necessary, but it sure would be a lot easier without the flywheel in the way.

Thanx all for the info. pardon my prankster co-worker for the earlier cracks. I'll try to keep you posted on my progress with the wires & plugs.

You would probably get a little better idle from the engine if you set the gaps at .040. Won't hurt the top end.

Since that engine incorporates a distributor cap and rotor, resulting is additional spark gaps to jump, the .040 plug gap may be slightly excessive. However, try both the .030 and the .040 gap and choose accordingly.
