Counsel to Tiller Help?

Can I convert my 1987 50hp Johnson counsel steering to tiller steering?<br /><br />If so what will this entail?<br /><br />Thanks Pier.

Yes, and it's not very hard. There should be a part # and/or kit if you buy it new. I just bought a used handle that came with everything for $100.00

Mine was a 98 90HP, but most of the tillers will work, the throttle cable is the only thing that needs to be for your motor. I couldn't find a dealer locally that had one, so I went on line and found large dealers with used parts.

YES you can, I just told you how. I have a 50HP, just didn't convert it, but the parts are the same except for the cable. Yes you can get a cable.

Thanks again ondarvr, I know you have done it but I have been told my 87 Johnson can not be converted to a Tiller, some have told me the tiller and counsel Engines are different.<br /><br />Just wondering if anyone has done it for my year.
