Would you know where to find a better tilt meter?

Hi guys,

I am trying to fine-tune the Smart Tabs on my boat that leans to one side, and would like to do this thoroughly once and for all.

For this, I've searched all over for an "inclinometer", but I am unsure of what it is called in English. The best I've found so far looks like this (80x100mm), and would measure tilt, but in one direction only (sideways or fore/aft), depending on which way it is placed.

Would any of you know where I could find one that would measure tilt in both dimensions at the same time? I suppose this would look like a compass, i.e. a floating ball with indications of angles of tilt. I seem to recall seeing one such in a 4-wheel drive car once.

If there are no other better indicators available, I guess I could possibly buy two of the above and mount them at right angles to each other. They're about $40 each though, so any suggestions on where I could get it a bit cheaper would be helpful.

i think for low dollars something from a sailboat like you found is the best bet

if you look at the new low cost laser levels and tools like that many have a digital readout for angles

tommays

on my last navy ship, we used two of the things you show in your first post. i don't think you'll get very accurate readings on a small boat, however. the thing is going to be moving all over the place and will be hard to read.
