Sorry to sound so ignorant, but I have only owned older Johnson/Evinrude V-4's that were all about the same. My new manual has not arrived for the 130.

I now have a 2000 Johnson 130. This V-4 looks completely different from the old style. It looks like there is only one power pack. Is this true? Also, this engine looks much larger than the old style, and I notice it has a V-6 Gearcase. Why is that? Any worries about the oil injection system?

PS. This is an OMC motor, not a Bommy.

Re: Johnson 130

The motor you have is a looper and the older design you refer to are crossflows. The looper will make a lot more torque than the crossflow ever did. Very good engines.

If you have a V6 style gearcase, your motor is probably a 25" model. The gearcase is indeed the size and shape of the V6 but it is different. You will need a V6 style prop.

The only concerns I have with the oil injection is making sure water stays out of the oil tank and your alarm works. The pump will inject water just as well as oil.
