What year is my VRO 70HP

Hi,<br /><br />i just bought a Mariner Rib 460 with a Evinrude 70HP VRO with serial B02456265. <br /><br />How can I see what year it is from.<br /><br />The previous owner changed the pump and it is running fine. He suggested 1:50 premix. Is this correct?

Welcome!!<br /><br />I'm sure you/he means 50:1. A pint of oil to 6 gal gas.

I am sorry, i do not have more info and <br />50:1 must be the same

The model # is right there with the serial #.

Or look on the block for a large welch plug with both numbers on it.

What digit in the model number tells you the year? Is it the fourth digit?

thanks,<br /><br />the seller told me it was from 1994. <br /><br />Is this a reliable and good engine?<br />Anything I have to watch? It is already running with premix with a new fuel pump.

Guys<br />Just in case anyone is interested, the B in front of the model number means that it was a Belgian built Evinrude.
