just bought evinrude 70 hp. 1989,,what kind rpm gauge should i buy,and what might i have to pay for one,thank you very much

Do some searching. I bought a teleflex for mine and was aprox $80-90

You need to be looking for a tach that works with Omc or Johnson/Evenrude. You have to buy one thats work with your alternator. What that means is your alternator pulses and you need a tachometer or rpm gauge that works with how many times your alternator pluses. I think your alternator pluses 6 time a second so you need a tachometer with a setting of 6.<br /><br />Please if someone knows the specks on his motor let him know if im wrong.<br /><br />Hope this helps.

You need a marine tach-not an automotive tach. See your local Bombardier dealer. You can get a Bombardier tach, or any aftermarket one, like the Teleflex mentioned. They come with setup instructions and will work fine with your engine. That price is about right.
