Trim problems, 88 johnson 50 HP

I have an 88 johnson and the trim on the back of the moter works fine but the one in the front of the boat and on the shift shaft seem to short out some times while I am using them they will just Quit working and I can go to the back of the moter and use the trim tab there and then the other ones will work again any help would be greatly appreciated thanks

I replaced my switch with a 3 way toggle switch. Momentary on off momentary on. Wires were easy to figure out. Mounted on dash near the throttle. Works good easy fix.

The replacement switch is available at any OMC dealer. Good idea to take the old switch with you as there are at least 2 different switches
