1976 Johnson 25 Pops Out of Gear After Dog Repalced

Hello All:<br /> I originally hit a rock with my motor and the prop would pop out under load. A mechanic told me it was the clutch dog and he replaced said part for $400. now when I place the engine in gear the shifting lever pops into neutral on its own under load. Is the linkage worn or can i adjust it? Dump the whole motor (top end runs great) or should i find a lower unit used? Thanks for any advice!<br /> Michael

Welcome aboard Demiandvm!<br /><br />Sounds to me like you ought to go back to the wrench and say fix it or give me back my $400.<br /><br />If there was still something wrong with the lower unit, the mechanic should have picked up on it when he run the engine after the repairs where completed.....he did run it didn't he?
