Hello:
I have a 1958 Johnson 7.5 Seahorse. The last time it ran was 3 years ago. It will start on quick start and then die out. Fuel is flowing.
I need to reset the High/Low settings first.

Where do I start?

Re: 7.5 Johnson

Hello buster01 and welcome to iboats!

Where to start? With the carb. Pull it off and give it a good soak and cleaning. Setting for so long, the fuel left in the bowl will have varnished out. Simple job and will save many headachs. While your at it, check the fuel lines and replace any that are hard and not plyable any more.

Check the spark and make sure you have a strong spark to each cylinder.

A new wtr pump impeller would be a good idea also.

There is a real good FAQ called "Awakening a Sleeping Outbard". Take a look at it. You can find it on the main forums menu under FAQ's.

If your talking about the glass setiment bowl, some J/Rude dealers still have them and some are still available. Or...search up TwinCity Outboard. They carry a lot of this sort of thing. Don't forget a new gasket also. The bowls are a common thing so I don't think you'll have much trouble finding one.
