I've been fishing offshore for a couple of years now in a 26ft sea cat. My buddies and I would like to move up to a small sport fishier of some sort. (28-34ft) It would have to be an older boat in order for us to afford. We would consider spending a far amount of money on the entire project $45,000-$60,000. Can anyone tell me if this is a realistic expectation and if so is there any particular boat with a good reputation for this type of project. I've heard good things about the 31ft bertrum?

Have you considered a Grady White 27 or 28 footer. I have a 1994 with t/200 mercurys and it is a great boat, it handles most any sea condition, and built solid. I have my on the market for 40K, I'm looking to get another Grady.

Yes I've looked at all of those boats. I really want inboard and diesel if at all possible!

davidroddy,

If you want a "true" inboard, check out Shamrock. They handle pretty well because of the keel.
