I'm replacing the thermostat on a V6 ocean pro and the maunal does not say to use any type of selaer on the gaskets. The same manual also covers the V4 and V8 motors and both of those procedure have you use OMC gasket sealer on the gaskets. Is this just an omission in the manual or do you not need gasket compound on the V6?

Re: Thermostat gaskets

You didn't give us a model or year of your motor, so if it is a paper-like gasket, use the sealer, and use Triple Guard grease on the bolts to keep them from freezing on if you are in salt water.

If your t'stats use a rubber type gasket or a diaphragm, do not use sealer.

Re: Thermostat gaskets

Sorry about that. It's a 97 200 OP. It has the rubber gaskets so I guess no sealer is requied

Thanks
