Re: Mariner Skeg repair
Welcome to iboats.com.
There is a bolt-on skeg called "Skeggard".They can make one even tho it wont be listed.
These are actual skeg extentions used to protect the prop and skeg. But in you case, better late than never. Providing that you have enough of the old skeg to bolt to (apprx one + one/half inch), you can install one of them.
The only problem is thier outrageous cost. Yhis is due to the fact that they are hand-machined out of stainless, to fit you particular skeg.
Another avenue would be a good steel/machine shop, who could fabricate a piece, or an attachable skeg. However, if the l/u and propshaft survived, it should be fine to use, and will be unoticeable underway. Of course, the next obnstruction would probly waste your l/u, but you spent zip so far, so you're still ahead.
Persoanlly, if it were mine, that's what I would do..Just inspect the lube ,refill the l/u, and keep gettin it.
