a true inboard would not have the leg/outdrive part outside the boat.. engine/gearbox in the boat with just the prop outside driven by some kind of propshaft..<br /><br />I/O is kinda halfway between an inboard and outboard.. big heavy engine bit inside the boat right at the back with what amounts to an outboard without the powerhead on the outside..<br /><br />less weight hanging on the transom and bigger/cheaper engines can be used than with a normal outboard..<br /><br />with a real inboard the engine would need to be farther forward in the boat cos of propshaft angles and such it would limit the room in the boat too much with smaller high power boats .. pros and cons for all three methods..<br /><br />trog100
