Hey everyone. I gotta a problem. Of course I wouldn't be posting anything if I didn't.

I've got a 1988 Mercury 90 HP Oil Injected Outboard. I've had trouble keeping it running. I've played with the crab mixture screws and had it running great. Went out one night and it ran perfect, it started right up and ran like a top. The next day, I got about 100 yards from the ramp, on my way out, and the motor died. I could start it but it just wouldn't stay running. It would start at about 1/4 to 1/2 throttle but then just sputter and die after running for about 30 seconds. Of course seeing how it was running so rough I couldn't get it into gear to get anywhere, so I ended up on the wrong end of a tow line back to the dock.

My question is:
What is the problem? Could the fuel pump be acting up? I checked all the hoses and clamps. What about electronics? Could I might not be getting enough spark? Please help. I'm missing out on all the good fishing.

Thanks.

VaBeach, Here are a few things to check before condemning fuel pump.Insure that you have fire to all cylinders by performing spark test.Check closely all fuel related connections ,particularly quick connectors for positive hookup.Anti syphon valve on tank fitting, pickup tube in tank for restriction,
