Trim Tilt on 650 Merc

Have just bought a used boat 17 ft cutter with 650 65 hp Merc. Now the trim motor does not work at this time. Now here it is, some say don't bother fixing it, because it doesn't do all that much for speed anyway, and theres the ones that say it does. Any info on this one would be great!<br /> Thanks

On a motor that small dont see where trim could make it go that much faster. Will make for a better ride though as far as getting nose out of water a little. Just put a Stingray on it and go with it.

HOOKEM DANO I have tilt and trim on a small bass boat with a 67 65hp mercury. I get a better ride also a better take off with the tilt and trim than without. I added mine because I got tired of having to manually tilt the motor when launching and trailering. Also added a dole fin. My boat ran fine with out it, but for the convenence I would get it fixed.
