tilt intermitantly stops working both up and down..but if I hold tilt switch up or down underway after a while it works normally again. Cleaned all connectors, battery, control box, solenoids but still happens. When it fails I can hear up & dwn solenoids clicking but motor does not work. This is a 3 wire 3 ram setup,Can I jump blk to(-) and blue or green directly to (+) to test? If it is the motor can I just buy motor ? where ? I have a chance to buy a complete newer used merc tilt setup for good price, mine has a fill tube in resevoir and newer one does not, rest looks same, are they interchangable ?

Hi, Moj.

Welcome to the board.

Edit: I guess it helps to read the topic. :D

You could use a manual to determine what connects to where, and to get instructions for troubleshooting.

I suspect that you have a failing motor, but you need to troubleshoot it before spending several hundred bux on a new one.

Good luck. :)

Moj, on a 3 wire motor like you have you can jump to the battery to test, black-, blue +up, green + down...different resivoirs are intercangeable, but new trim comes with 2 wire motor, you must change solenoids to relays....would bet you have a motor that is wet inside...

If it is the motor and you can't rebuild it (shorted or open windings) check with a starter/generator/alternator shop and see if they can rebuild it for you.

c/6

Hooty
