Is a 2000 Merc 4 stroke 50HP (big Foot) a good engine?? I heard a few remarks that Merc had<br />problems with their earlier 4 Strokes, <br />I would like to hear a few comments- - pro's or<br />con's. Or should a person stay away from it &<br />look at a Honda or Yamaha???<br />I'm thinking about replacing a 1988 Merc 35 HP<br />that is on a 24 Ft Pontoon boat because it too<br />noisey(Mainly) & kind of slow...<br />Thanks in advance...Murf

2 dogs,<br /><br />I think the engine is fine. My question would be, "Do I Need a Bigfoot"?<br /><br />The Bigfoot versions were designed for moving heavy boats, such as pontoons.
