I am looking for a Mercury starter #50-86976.

Went to the Mercury web site and they said this number is no longer made.

Does anyone have an alternate number for this starter.

This is the only thing in my way of getting my boat in the water.

Thank you

Re: Looking for starter

Chris,
I have a couple of starters from 1985 Mariners 175hp V6's. I have serial #'s on motors (S/N 06620135), but don't know part number. May be the same starter motors. email me at grandx@peoplepc.com if interested.

Re: Looking for starter

Chris,

I did a search on google for that part #. This is what I came up with :

http://www.apimarine.com/catalog/page30.pdf

It's a cross referrence chart that does have that # listed. At the bottom of the page are phone numbers and a web address.

Good luck !

Re: Looking for starter

Check out dbelectrical.com. They specialize in hard to find stuff and the price is usually much better too. I got a starter from them after trying almost everywhere. Only cost $139 compared to the $275+ my dealer was asking when he could find one.

Dutch

Re: Looking for starter

Here is another question the starter every now and then just spins and the gear won't engage. Its gotten to the point were I can't trust it any more.

Is it worth replacing or is there something that can be fixed on it.

Re: Looking for starter

Brand new interstae battery still won't engage the starter. When it does engage it will sometimes drop down while tuning over motor.
